ABSTRACT
In the competitive machining industry, modern milling tool developments considering nanometrological measurements are considered to be significant for flexible and powerful operations. Investigation of the surface roughness profiles before and after a machining process under constant cutting speed are evaluated to define the cutting tool samples. This study focuses on experimental assessment of the surface topography of both uncoated and nanomultilayer coated end milling cutting tool samples by measuring the roughness parameter Ra.

Moreover, the quality management in development of long lifetime and high cutting performance of end mills is introduced under the guidance of standards that further establishes an impact on the waste and environmental management of the industry. Cutting tool operations, an application of the machining industry, are considered in this research work as a part of this process management.

The aim of this paper is to establish a general model of process management for evaluating and developing cutting tools following the guidance of quality management standards considering the environmental effects as well. The results are beneficial for the industry promoting a continuous improvement in quality, environmental operation, and eventually in cost reduction.
