English abstract:
Gelcasting is a ceramic forming technique for very
complex shapes. A low viscosity slurry is poured into
mould, solidified, debinded and sintered. This
technology was used to produce monolithic cross flow
Diesel Particulate Filters. Due to the strong undercuts
the structure fugitive wax moulds have to be used.
Different ways are shown, how these moulds can be
produced. The gelcast cross flow filters have
dimensions from 31 x 24 x 28 mm³ to 90 x 90 x 40 mm
and wall thickness from 0,4 to 1 mm. Furthermore the
binder removal and the sintering is discussed. The used
material is recrystallized silicon carbide, because it has
an inherent porosity, good thermal shock resistance and
a non-shrinking sintering behaviour.
