English abstract:
High material removal rate, high cutting parameters and, hence, high
resultant forces are characteristics of high performance cutting. The geometry
of the cutting edge, and its preparation, plays a significant role on the
performance of a cutting tool when machining widely used or difficult-tomachine
materials. Article is an outline of literature knowledge concerning the
cutting edge preparation. The main goal of the article is the model proposal for
nano-metrological process management to assess the quality of the cutting tool
edge.

Keywords:
cutting edge preparation, quality management, measurement method
