Mechanical, tomographical and materialographic characterisation of CFRP pultruded samples provided by the company SECAR were carried out at the Institute of Materials Science and Technology (Vienna University of Technology) and FH Oberösterreich, Campus Wels. X-ray computer tomography, mechanical tests (torsion test), materialography (LOM and SEM) and radiography were the methods used.
A qualitative and quantitative characterisation of defects and their effect on the mechanical properties of this kind of materials is the long term aim of the project. The effect of defects in structural composites.

Am Institut für Werkstoffwissenschaften und -technologie (Technische Universität Wien) um am FH Oberösterreich Campus Wels wurden mechanischen und materialtechnischen Untersuchungen von CFK pultrudierten Produkten der Firma SECAR durchgeführt. Es wurden mechanische Prüfungen, materialographische (Lichtmikroskop und REM), sowie Computertomographie und radiographische Methoden angewandt.
Eine qualitative und quantitative Beschreibung der Defekte, und deren Auswirkungen auf die mechanischen Eigenschaften, ist das langfristige Ziel dieses Projektes: Die Effekte der Defekte auf die Anforderungen der Industrie.
