English abstract:
The paper describes a modular architecture for the control of manufacturing cells. The functionality of the cell control application is exposed through service interfaces and can be invoked by the information systems of the manufacturing execution system directly via SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). Operator interface, control and management functions and machine tool interface are strictly separated into different layers to allow easy adoption for specific requirements. SOAP is also used for internal communication between these layers, allowing high flexibility of system configuration.
